Out of commission....

Postby =AEST=Mayhem on Thu Dec 31, 2009 11:22 am

Temporarily....it seems that either my power supply took a crap on me last night or I got a very nasty virus/trojan whilst perrusing the finest midget on mdiget on donkey movies ever....I mean come on, how can you NOT watch something called the "One Armed Midget and what the Orangutang named Tripod and the Donkey saw"???? And I do so love animal movies.....lmao....

Basically what's happening is as soon as the unit powers up it shuts down completly or it tries to restart three or four times then just shuts down for about five minutes and tries to start up again....which is what is making me think power supply is bad on it. Sounds about right to me as it's a little over 7 years old....time for a new one anyways....

spoke too soon....
Don't think it's the PS after all as with the new PS installed after 30 minutes of testing it shut down again...now it's in a loop where it starts and shuts down continuosly...might be a bad hard drive??? might be a bad or corrupted windows file??? but I wouldn't know because it won't stay running long enough for me to check. Right now I'm using my second PC, thinking about yanking the HDD from it to use on the other rig...but affraid too...cause what if it IS a virus...or malwal....or a trojan???? And what makes this worse is that I have my game on that drive!!!! damn I hate this sort of problem....any ideas or suggestions from you knuckle heads?

GO TOO GEEK SQUAD!!!(JK) I would suggest if you have the money to spare just replacing all of the old main components of your machine.

slowly but surely figuriung it out...yanked a spare drive from another unit i have fired up the "bad" one and it's been running for the last 3 hours no problems...which makes me think bad hard drive for certain...now to see if I can swap files from the bad drive to the good one, mainly my MW2 files!!!!! Anyone know which file holds your profile/ranking???

I GIVE UP!!!!

Postby =AEST=Mayhem on Thu Jan 07, 2010 8:08 am

Damn it all ta hell!!!!!
I thought I had this thing all figured out, replaced power supply, hard drive, mother board, memory...
only things left are the processor and the video card....it shut down on me again last night while I was trying to run vent and the game. I am about ready to just pack it in and toss all this crap out the window...lol...The darn thing ran just fine for three days 24 hours non-stop...then I shut it down, it shut off normally and went to sleep. WOke up the next morning and the darn thing was ON and RUNNING!!!! On it's freakin own!!!!!! This time I shut it down and turned the power supply off. Got back from work, turned the power supply on and the darn thing started up without me even touching the front panel power switch!!!!! Which is really bugging me!!!! I turned it off tore the case down till it was empty, inspected every little cable I could find for nicks or breaks or cuts, nothing, nada. Next pulled the front panel switch, checked it for shorts, cleaned it, sprayed a little contact cleaner on it, made sure it was working fine. Plugged it all back together re-installed everything and fired it up. It started, loaded windows completly and then started shutting down processes till windows closed. Then it tried to restart on it's own. About half a dozen times then shut off and wouldn't restart. I unplugged it last night, pulled the battery from the mother board and am going to do a little research today, maybe the video card I have is not supported by the mother board? BUt that wouldnt explain why it was doing this withthe old mother board? Possibly the processor going bad? Anyone know of any issues with E6600 Intels failing????
